オハイオ州ミラーズバーグにて’’アーミッシュ’’がハンド裂織りしたヴィンテージファブリックを採用し作成したハーフコート。裂織りは日本の文化として世界的に知られていますが、実はアメリカではインディアンとアーミッシュが主にラグとして販売する目的で裂織りを製作していました。日本の生地よりも硬く、目の詰まったマテリアルです。このプロダクトに高級感が出る理由として、本来の素材がヨーロッパやアメリカ現地で手作りした、様々な生地を裂いて織り直して柄にするため、日本の襤褸（らんる＝ボロ）よりも高品質な生地が多くなります。

アーミッシュ文化は、古い物を大切にし、文化を変えずに継承していくことが有名ですが、実際にデザイナー本人が現地に行き、彼らと会話を重ね譲り受けた貴重な生地。アーミッシュは自然や動物との距離がとても近く、素材の魅力を引き出せる能力や感性がとても優れているそうです。

襟と前たてのコードパイピングには北米にてタンニングされたカーフレザーを採用、裏地には保温性の高いパンチングキルトのウルトラスエード素材、前たて見返しや袖裏にはブリティッシュアンティークタッサーシルチェック柄を採用しており、全てがスペシャルな素材で仕立てられています。

（アーミッシュとは）
アーミッシュ（Amish）は、主にアメリカやカナダの農村地帯で、18〜19世紀の伝統的な生活様式を現代も維持する、キリスト教プロテスタントの信仰共同体です。電気、自動車、インターネットなどの現代文明から距離を置き、馬車移動、自家発電、農業や手工業による自給自足的な暮らし、質素な衣服、家族・コミュニティの結束を特徴とします。

（裂織りとは）
裂織（さきおり）は、古くなった生地や布を細く裂いて「よこ糸」にし、丈夫な「たて糸」と交互に織り上げる伝統技法です。日本では寒冷地で木綿が貴重だった時代に、布を最後まで使い切る「もったいない」精神から生まれたエコロジカルな手法で、温かみのある厚手の生地として再生されます。

This half coat is made using vintage fabric hand-sashimi-woven by the Amish in Millersburg, Ohio. While sashimi weaving is known worldwide as a Japanese culture, in fact, in America, Native Americans and the Amish primarily produced sashimi for sale as rugs. The material is stiffer and denser than Japanese fabrics. The premium feel of this product comes from the fact that the original material was handmade in Europe and America, where various fabrics were ripped and rewoven to create patterns, resulting in fabrics of higher quality than Japanese ranru (rags).

Amish culture is known for treasuring antiques and passing on its traditions without change. The designer himself visited the area and spoke with the Amish, who passed down this precious fabric to him. The Amish are said to have a close relationship with nature and animals, and have an exceptional ability and sensitivity to bring out the best in materials.

The collar and front cord piping are crafted from North American-tanned calf leather, the lining is made from highly insulating quilted ultrasuede, and the front facing and sleeve linings feature a British antique tussah sill check pattern. Everything in this garment is crafted from special materials.

(About the Amish)
The Amish are a Christian Protestant religious community primarily found in rural areas of the United States and Canada who maintain a traditional 18th- and 19th-century lifestyle. Distant from modern civilization like electricity, automobiles, and the internet, they are characterized by horse-drawn carriages, self-power generation, a self-sufficient lifestyle based on farming and handicrafts, simple clothing, and strong family and community ties.

(About Sakiori)
Sakiori is a traditional weaving technique in which old fabric or cloth is torn into thin strips to create the "weft" thread, which is then woven alternately with the strong "warp" thread. In Japan, where cotton was a precious commodity in the cold regions, this ecological method was born from the "mottainai" (not to waste) spirit of using up every last bit of fabric, and is recycled into warm, thick fabric.
